Pillars of Sustainability
In its simplest form, “sustainability” means that organizations and individuals meet present needs in ways that protect the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. NTT DATA believes the journey towards sustainability is an opportunity to create both short- and long-term benefits for the environment, the economy and society at large.
The Environment
Pursuing sustainability helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, minimize waste, conserve natural resources, preserve biodiversity and protect habitats that are essential to the planet’s long-term health.
The Economy
The journey towards sustainability can create new jobs and economic sectors and help organizations increase productivity, reduce operating costs and build brand loyalty, thus improving the bottom line and long-term differentiation.
Our Society
A sustainable future is an equitable future—one that encompasses diverse, inclusive and accessible communities where everyone can apply their full capabilities to increase overall prosperity and well-being. Learn more about our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion here.
Sustainability Targets
Foresight is one of NTT DATA’s core values. Our recurring risk analyses consistently identify climate change as one of the most significant threats facing our clients, communities and the world. In response, NTT DATA and our parent company, NTT, are developing and implementing wide-ranging initiatives to reduce our own environmental impact and to support responsible stewardship more broadly.
NTT DATA has set specific sustainability targets, and we are following through by transforming the way we operate. Much work is ahead, yet we already have made substantive progress, including the conversion of two North American data centres to 100% renewable energy.
Our commitments include:
Phased Targets Towards Carbon Neutrality
NTT DATA Group aims to achieve Net-Zero for direct and indirect emissions from its own operations: (Scope 1 and 2) for data centres by 2030; the entire company, including offices and other facilities by 2035; and its entire supply chain (Scope 3) by 2040.
Green Software
As a Green Software Foundation member, we apply green software as a step towards carbon-neutrality.
Environmental Considerations
Our procurement process includes evaluation of suppliers’ corporate stance on environmental protection.
Antarctica Sponsorship
We sponsored Robert Swan’s Undaunted: South Pole 2023 expedition to help inspire and engage team members with sustainability initiatives.
NTT DATA can help organizations understand their current situation, set targets and deploy trusted existing technology today, even as we continue innovating to promote economic resilience and sustainability.
